a fruit consisting of a fleshy enlarged receptacle and a tough central core containing the seeds, e.g., an apple or pear.
Every morning a short poem from Matthew Ogle’s POME arrives in my inbox. It feels old-fashion to receive a brief couplet or quatrain through email. I tell you now, POME is downright flirtatious luminosity on a dark morning. What a way to start the day!
In an article on Medium, Ogle talks about what happened when he decided to start sending daily poetry selections from his TinyLetter ledger.
“What unfolded was a year of slow but consistently – escalating loveliness. . .Words! Poems! I used to love and collect poetry, especially the short modern kind, poems whose strength comes from words left out.”
Still In the Beat Business
The article is dated 5 April, 2015. In it he says he will soon stop sending out these little gems and that we need to find them for ourselves. I just started subscribing a couple months ago so the guy must have changed his mind. Trust me, subscribing to POME is the opposite of filling your email inbox with crap, it is a bliss blog from cloud nine.
